2026–27 Musical Theatre Audition Deadlines: Prescreens, Applications & Auditions

A few patterns to know:

• Early vs. final prescreen deadlines. Many programs offer an early prescreen date tied to the first callback weekend and a final date for the last one. Earlier submissions generally mean more callback slots are still open — treat the earliest date that applies to you as the real deadline.
• Rolling / TBD. A handful of programs review on a rolling basis or haven't pinned a date. For those, earlier is safer — rolling programs fill as they review.
• Prescreens come first. At most prescreen schools the video is due before or alongside the university application. Build your filming schedule backwards from your earliest prescreen date — our wild card guide covers the video piece most students underestimate.

• August: finalize your school list (our acceptance rates and selectivity guide helps you balance it), open every portal, and track all of your deadlines.
• September: pull together your headshot and resume, make a shot list from each school's requirements, and start filming when you feel ready.
• October: ship it — film and submit your prescreens and applications ahead of the October–December deadline cluster, and complete the FAFSA and CSS Profile.
• November–December: prescreen results arrive; schedule callbacks quickly and book travel.
• January–February: callbacks and Unifieds. Programs with later or rolling deadlines are still in play if your list needs additions.
