Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Songs

One Musical Theatre Song

From any era

Maximum 2 minutes in length

Should demonstrate vocal and acting ability

Monologues

One Contemporary Monologue

Maximum 2 minutes

From a full-length stage play (not from a musical)

Written any time after 1985

Dance

Technique Class Assessment

Three assessed classes: ballet, contemporary dance, and jazz dance

All applicants assessed in all three techniques regardless of pathway

Optional dance solo may also be performed

Additional Materials

Headshot

One recent head shot photo, head and shoulders

One full-length dance photo in close-fitting dancewear

Full-length dance photo must be portrait orientation with a plain background

Letters of Recommendation

Two letters of recommendation: one academic reference and one dance reference

Letters should be on school or organisation letterhead and signed

References can be uploaded or sent directly to the Admissions Manager

Outline your aims, ambitions, and career aspirations

Application Portal

Apply directly to LSC (not via UCAS)

Applications open from October of the previous year

Eligibility

Applicants must normally be 18 or over before 1 September in the year of enrolment

96 UCAS tariff points normally required

IELTS 6.0 (no less than 5.5 per component) for non-native English speakers

No deferred entry accepted

Audition Fee Waiver

Available for UK applicants with annual household income of GBP 25,000 or below

What's The Process

Audition Format

One-day audition in two stages

Morning: three assessed technique classes (ballet, contemporary, jazz)

Afternoon: workshop your song and monologue with the audition panel

Optional dance solo may also be performed

Video Audition Alternative

Available for applicants unable to attend in person

Brief statement to camera about training and why you want to train at LSC (max 1 minute)

Perform your musical theatre song (max 2 minutes)

Perform your contemporary monologue (max 2 minutes)

Video must include all dance elements from the provided sequences

Submit via application portal: upload mp4/mov/avi or provide YouTube/Vimeo URL

Timeline

Auditions run December to April of the year of entry

Application must be received at least 7 days before audition date

Outcome communicated via email

Successful applicants pay GBP 500 registration deposit to secure their place

Tuition Fee Scholarship

Sliding scale up to GBP 3,000 for students receiving full maintenance loan

Automatically awarded based on Student Finance maintenance award

Exceptional Talent Scholarships

Full tuition fee support for the duration of the programme

Includes the Bridget Espinosa Scholarship and the Teneisha Bonner Scholarship

Leverhulme Trust Arts Scholarship

GBP 175,000 fund awarded over 3 years to current students
