MTCP Song Option C

Prescreen Songs / MTCP Format

•Two contrasting songs, 60-90 seconds each

•SRU lets you choose either option, whichever serves you best

•Option A: One pre-1970, one post-1970 (any genre: musical theatre, pop, hip-hop, folk, rock, rap, soul, country, punk, etc.)

•Option B: One musical theatre song (any era), one song of your choice in any contrasting style

•Waist-up framing recommended

•Label the file: song title - musical/show - your name

Monologues

MTCP Monologue Option A

•Prescreen Monologue / MTCP Format

•One monologue, 60-90 seconds

•From a published play or by a professional writer

•Age-appropriate character (generally within 5-10 years of your actual age)

•Waist-up framing

•Label the file: play title - playwright - your name

Dance

MTCP Dance Option C

•Dance and ballet videos are not required for prescreen or callback

•SRU accepts students regardless of prior dance training

•Optional dance/ballet videos can support the application and Dance Performance minor consideration

Optional Dance Video

•60-90 seconds, full-body framing from head to floor

•Show your best dancing or moving; include one turn, one jump, one kick, or suitable alternatives

•Solo video only; recent performance footage is acceptable if the applicant is clearly featured

•Brief series: plie, tendu, grand battement, pirouettes en dehors on both sides, and grand jete

Application Logistics

•Apply to SRU through the university application ($30 fee)

•Submit prescreen materials through Acceptd ($35 audition application fee)

•SRU uses the Musical Theatre Common Prescreen for all Musical Theatre applicants

•Same prescreen videos can work for multiple MTCP schools

Important Notes

•Callback invitations are sent only after SRU admission

•Apply by December 1 for scholarship eligibility and best housing options

•Applicants can audition for both Acting and Musical Theatre concentrations in the same Acceptd application

What's The Process

Audition Process

•Phase 1: complete the prescreen through Acceptd or a participating unified event

•Phase 2: invited callback and personal interview, held on campus or at a participating unified event

•Applicants incorporate faculty direction or coaching using their prescreen material

•For 2026-2027 SRU plans to attend Chicago Unifieds, New York Unifieds, and Pittsburgh Unified Auditions

•Exact on-campus callback and unified-event dates for the 2027 cycle have not been published

•Callback invitations and BFA decisions are released on a rolling basis
