Applications receive equal consideration regardless of portal used

Apply through only one option

If applying to a program that requires a supplementary application, you must use OUAC

Admission Pathway

BA Theatre Studies has no supplementary application component

BA students may audition/interview/apply into BFA streams at the end of first year through the Next Steps process

Important Notes

York reference ID is sent by email after submission

Track progress and submit documents through MyFile

Transfer Pathway

York assesses transfer credit after admission and publishes BA Theatre as the entry route for transfer students who may later audition/evaluate into Theatre BFA streams after year one. Students who stay in BA Theatre Studies do not need the end-of-year audition.

What's The Process

Audition Process

BA Theatre Studies does not require a supplementary application or admission audition

After submitting either the OUAC or York University application, the program application is complete

Applications usually take 4-6 weeks to process after all documents are received

Post-Enrollment

First-year Theatre students may audition, interview, or apply through the spring Next Steps process to move into Acting & Performance, Performance Creation, Production & Design, or other upper-year studio pathways

Students who remain in BA Theatre Studies, or who pursue BA Performance Creation, do not need to audition at the end of first year

Entrance Awards

York offers automatic and application-based entrance awards, scholarships, and bursaries

The MyFile scholarship application opens December 1 and most application-based awards close April 1

Some awards have earlier deadlines; check the official financial support page for the current cycle
