TRAINING PHILOSOPHY
•Pre-professional degree with emphasis on singing styles specific to Musical Theatre and actor training
•Additional training in dance, voice and dialects, directing, technical theatre and design, and stage movement and combat
CURRICULUM
•Musical Theatre Voice Lessons covering belt, lyric (legit), pop, country, and jazz standards
•Musical Theatre Workshop focusing on producing musical scenes and complete musicals
•Fundamentals of Music for Theatre Majors — music theory tailored for MT performers
•Minimum of five semesters of dance required (ballet, jazz, tap, and/or modern)
•Full acting curriculum from beginning through advanced scene study
PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
•Department focused on undergraduate work
•Musical Theatre Workshop, annual one-act play festival, senior projects, and ASOPA productions

Monologues
TWO CONTRASTING MONOLOGUES, approx 1.5-2 min each (for scholarship audition)
•Should show different aspects of your performance skills
•One serious and one comedic/humorous piece, OR one contemporary and one classical piece (e.g., Shakespeare, Moliere)
ALTERNATIVE OPTION
•May substitute one monologue with 16 measures or one verse of a song from a musical (not a top 40 hit)
MATERIAL SELECTION
•Choose material from plays with fully developed characters
•Avoid speech/forensics pieces, novels, stories, and poems

•May perform 16 measures or one verse of a song from a musical in place of one monologue
•Must be from a musical — not a top 40 hit
