Audition Requirements
Songs
•MTCP Song Option C:
-Applicant chooses Option A or B:
-Option A: One pre-1970 + one post-1970 song (contrasting styles)
-Option B: One MT song + one contrasting song (any style)
-60-90 seconds each
Monologues
•MTCP Monologue Option A:
-One monologue from a published play or professional writer
-60-90 seconds
Dance
•MTCP Dance Option A:
-Dance/movement video required
-Must include at least one turn, one jump, and one kick
-Or suitable rotation, elevation, and extension
-60-90 seconds
Wildcard / Special Skill (Optional)
•Optional wild card video — an opportunity to show your personality or share something about you. Can be ANYTHING: a special skill, an interesting story about yourself, a passion speech, an instrument you play, etc. Examples of successful submissions include: singing a pop song, singing or playing an original composition/song/poem or choreographed dance, performing an SNL-styled comedic character skit, sharing a meaningful hobby or activity, performing in a language other than English in which you are fluent, playing an instrument, making a how-to video on something you excel at (baking, calligraphy, gymnastics), or showing a different dance style (tap, hip hop, lyrical, ballet, etc.)

APPLICATION PROCESS
•Acceptance requires both admission to WVU and a successful audition with the School of Theatre and Dance
•Register for an audition day via the Theatre Audition and Portfolio Review Registration form (Cognito Forms)
MTCP
•Program follows Musical Theater Common Prescreen requirements (Option C)
•Applicants choose Option A or Option B for songs
ELIGIBILITY
•You may secure your audition time before or after your WVU university application is completed
•An admission decision cannot be made until after you have been admitted to WVU
What's The Process
AUDITION FORMAT
•Auditions offered in both on-campus and virtual formats
•On-campus audition days: January 31 and February 28, 2026
-Check in: 10:30 a.m.
-Welcome meeting: 11:00 a.m.
-Dance call begins 10 minutes after monologue/song presentations conclude
•Audition videos are NOT required for students participating in on-campus auditions
VIRTUAL SUBMISSIONS
•Submit videos via SlideRoom
•Upload separate videos for each song, monologue, and dance call submission
•Following the conclusion of on-campus audition days, all remaining auditions will be virtual through video submission

Scholarship Info
•Talent-based scholarship consideration through the audition process
•FREDDY© Awards scholarship — application opens March 1, closes May 8
