•One full year of acting training for all dance majors

Audition Requirements

Dance

Virtual Audition — Video Uploads

•Submit five dance videos using the set routines linked via Acceptd

•Do not mirror the movement — reverse it (begins moving to the right)

•You must submit all five videos

Dance 1 — Ballet Barre

•A brief ballet barre of your own design containing pliés, dégagés, rond de jambe en l'air, and battements

•Slate at the beginning with your name and a brief statement of your artistic goals

Dance 2 — Ballet Adagio

•Learn the set ballet adagio (video link provided via Acceptd)

•Music: "A Thousand Years" by Peter James

Dance 3 — Ballet Petit Allegro

•Learn the set ballet petit allegro (video link provided via Acceptd)

•Music: "Jete, I'm Yours" by Modern Dance Class Series

Dance 4 — Modern Combination

•Learn the set modern combination (video link provided via Acceptd)

•Music: Recomposed by Max Richter, Vivaldi

Dance 5 — Jazz Combination

•Learn the set jazz combination (video link provided via Acceptd)

•Music: "Dancin' Dan" by Fosse Original Broadway Cast

Video Recording Guidelines

•Find adequate and safe space to dance

•Wear proper dance attire and appropriate shoes for your space

•Well-lit space with lighting from the front

•Record head to toe — entire body visible at all times

In-Person Audition Options

•Option A (Friday Master Class): Ballet and modern class

•Option B (Saturday Audition): Ballet barre followed by short combination in ballet, modern, and jazz

•Wear appropriate dance attire

•Video should show excerpts from a typical class: short barre and center work, short adagio, allegro, grande allegro, and a variety of turns

•DBII applicants: part of center work should be on pointe

•DCDCII applicants: also include two contrasting modern combinations

•Tom Hanks Scholarship, Augsburger/Estevez Scholarship (Martin Sheen), Theatre Arts Talent Scholarship, Rising Star Scholarship. Performance scholarships with Dayton Ballet and Dayton Contemporary Dance Company for exceptional students.
