Optional audition for scholarship consideration - not required for program admission.

Songs

Optional Song Package

•Applicants may prepare one monologue and one song instead of two contrasting monologues

•Total audition package must be no more than 2 minutes

•Prerecorded accompaniment is preferred, but a cappella auditions are acceptable

•Avoid signature songs or overdone material

Monologues

Two Contrasting Monologues or One Monologue and One Song

•Option 1: Two contrasting monologues

•Option 2: One monologue and one song

•Total audition package must be no more than 2 minutes

•Use age-appropriate monologues from published plays only

Preparation

•Memorize all audition pieces

•Slate with your name, piece title, and character before beginning

•Be prepared to repeat your monologue with changes after direction

Additional Materials

Statement

•Required: Provide a personal artistic statement detailing your interest in pursuing further study in theatre

Letters of Recommendation

•Required: Provide one recommendation from a teacher or director who knows you and your work well

Headshot

•Recommended: Provide a headshot; a professional headshot is not required

Resume

•Recommended: Provide a theatrical resume

Portfolio / Creative Sample

•Optional for designers, playwrights, and technicians: Submit plays, lighting plots, set designs, sketches, drawings, photographs, prompt book excerpts, technical drawings, a website, slideshow, or another digital file

Audition Process

•Admission to the BA Theatre program is through Wofford's university application

•No separate department admission process, audition, or portfolio is required to major or minor in theatre

•Optional audition or portfolio review is available for theatre scholarship consideration

•To schedule an audition or portfolio review, contact theatre@wofford.edu

•Scholarship visits may include an informal one-on-one interview with theatre faculty

•Students may sit in on theatre classes, tour theatre spaces, and speak with current students

•Actors prepare two contrasting monologues OR one monologue and one song

•Designers, playwrights, and technicians may present creative or technical portfolio work instead of or in addition to monologues

Rosalind Sallenger Richardson Fine Arts Scholarship

•$15,000 per year

•Must major in a program within the Department of Theatre

Merit-Based Theatre Scholarships

•Up to $1,500 per year

•Available in performance, playwriting, and design

•Contingent upon audition and interview
