Program Recognition
•Bullet: Wilmington's Technical Production and Design Certificate is crafted for students interested in entering the fields of theatrical design or theatrical technology; the certificate lets students focus on production and design within their existing Theatre major/minor, or in addition to another major/minor, with less time commitment than adding a major/minor
•Bullet: Students sharpen their skills in scenery, lighting, makeup, audio, costuming, properties, projections, and special effects, and the certificate also draws in courses from art and communication arts to broaden students' understanding of design and technology
Training
•Bullet: Core courses are Design, Introduction to Theatre, and Stagecraft, with electives such as Lighting Design, Scene Design, Stage Makeup, Topics in Theatre, Drawing, Basic Photography, and Painting
Professional Development
•Bullet: Graduates can understand the roles and responsibilities of various technicians and designers within a production team, create a fully functional design from concept to execution in at least one technical/design area, and demonstrate tangible skills in at least two technical production/design areas
Degree Flexibility
•Bullet: 20 credit-hours of on-campus, student-paced coursework with a grade of C or better in each course, culminating in a final portfolio presentation
