Music scholarship recipients must take private lessons in their primary area and participate in an assigned ensemble

Important Notes

Submit the online music scholarship application form, then either submit a recording or schedule an in-person audition

Priority deadline: February 1 (assures notification before May 1)

Scholarships awarded on a rolling basis as long as funds remain

What's The Process

No Audition Required

Admission is through the Westmont College university application

No audition is required for admission to the major

Scholarship Audition (Optional)

Submit a recorded audition or schedule an in-person audition for scholarship consideration only

Recordings accepted as MP3 upload, mailed CD/DVD, or YouTube link (10-minute segments)

In-person auditions can be scheduled through the scholarship application form; a staff accompanist is provided on request

Submit 2 to 4 selections total

Repertoire

Prepare a scholarship audition on your primary applied area (voice, piano, organ, guitar, or an orchestral instrument) following that area's requirements

A current repertoire list is required for most areas

Accompaniment

A staff piano accompanist is provided for in-person auditions on request

Music Guild Scholarship Competition

Awards up to $15,000 per year for study at Westmont

In addition to any academic or other scholarships earned

Renewable and may increase year to year

Participation in the competition is by invitation only; Westmont selects candidates from its top music scholarship applicants, and there is no separate application or audition for the competition itself

Music Major Scholarship

Additional $5,000 per academic year for declared music majors

In addition to Music Guild Scholarship

Application

Completed applications received prior to February 1 receive priority consideration

Scholarships awarded on a rolling basis as long as funds are available

First round of award letters sent March 1

Range from $1,500 to $15,000 per academic year
