Good to Know

Application Logistics

Apply to Western Oregon University through Common App or the WOU admission application

Applying for admission is free and does not require a waiver

New/potential BFA students must be formally accepted to WOU before the BFA interview

Submit BFA application materials by email to Professor Michael Phillips

WOU offers rolling admission; apply early for scholarship eligibility

Important Notes

Complete the WOU General Scholarship Application in Scholarship Universe for theatre scholarship consideration

WOU Portal username and password are required

General Scholarship Applications generally end on March 1

The 2026-27 WOU printable catalog no longer lists a standalone "Theatre Education" degree program page (only course TA 225 Theatre Education Seminar, whose prerequisite still cites "Acceptance into the BFA in Theatre Education program"); the department's own page (wou.edu/theatre-dance/15925-2/) remains live with a full curriculum and an active interview-based admission process as of 2026-09-15

What's The Process

Audition Process

First receive formal admission to WOU; students admitted to WOU may pursue its BA/BS general-theatre options, while BFA Theatre Education admission is by interview.

Current WOU students and new/potential students may interview for entrance to the BFA Production Training Program.

Private interviews are scheduled as BFA materials are received.

Contact

Email BFA materials and interview questions to Professor Michael Phillips (phillipm@wou.edu).
