•Bullet: Audition is required for admission as a music major and for scholarship consideration
•Bullet: Audition early for the best chance at scholarship funding
Audition Options
•Bullet: In-person on a scheduled Audition/Shadow Day
•Bullet: In-person by individual appointment with the department chair
•Bullet: Video audition via YouTube link
•Bullet: Live audition via Zoom
Evaluation Criteria
•Bullet: Demonstrate proficiency on your principal instrument
•Bullet: Demonstrate sight-reading ability and basic knowledge of music fundamentals
•Bullet: Considerable experience in school or community musical organizations expected
Accompaniment
•Bullet: Students are strongly encouraged to bring their own accompanist
•Bullet: If needed, the department can provide one with at least two weeks notice
•Bullet: Sheet music must be mailed or emailed to the department at least two weeks in advance
Video Audition Process
•Bullet: Email Dr. Matthew Harder (mharder@westliberty.edu) to notify of intent to submit video
•Bullet: Upload video to YouTube (can be private/password-protected)
•Bullet: You and your instrument must be clearly visible in the frame, with the entire instrument shown
•Bullet: Video must be unedited (basic trimming acceptable)
•Bullet: Audio must be clear and free from distortion
