Audition Requirement
•A vocal audition is required for admission to the Choral Emphasis and for scholarship consideration
•Audition early for the best chance at scholarship funding
Audition Options
•In person on a scheduled Audition/Shadow Day
•In person by individual appointment with the department chair
•Video audition via YouTube link
•Live audition via Zoom
Evaluation Criteria
•An easily produced vocal tone of adequate size and pleasing quality
•Good vocal musicianship, including pitch accuracy, rhythmic accuracy, legato phrasing, and dynamics
•Expressiveness and communication of the song's emotional content
Teaching Interview
•Faculty discuss prior experience, commitment, and career goals in music teaching during the audition visit
Video Audition Process
•Email Dr. Matthew Harder (mharder@westliberty.edu) before submitting video
•Upload an unedited video to YouTube or a similar service; basic trimming is acceptable
•Applicant and instrument must be clearly visible, and audio must be clear and free from distortion
