Audition Requirements
REQUIRED MATERIALS
•PORTFOLIO
•RESUME with references and contact information
•Personal statement or essay
•TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION (optional but welcomed)
PORTFOLIO CONTENTS
•Curated sample of production work through all phases (prep, rehearsals, tech, previews, performances)
•Organize by production or by category — clearly laid out
•Showcase your best work and the scope of shows you have worked on
•Can include cast lists, calendars, blocking sheets, photos of productions or yourself in action
•Remove personal information (cast emails, phone numbers, emergency forms)
•Portfolio is a "greatest hits" — choose work you are excited to discuss
Good to Know
APPLICATION PROCESS
•Apply to Webster via school website, Common App, or Coalition App
•Complete Interview and Portfolio Review Request form and submit $30 fee
•Audition coordinator contacts you to schedule
IMPORTANT NOTES
•Must be academically accepted before portfolio review results are released
•In-person meetings preferred — virtual available in extenuating circumstances
•Faculty attend Unified Auditions and Thespian Festivals — Stage Management interviews at those events may be considered full evaluations
What's The Process
•PORTFOLIO review consists of a conversation with production faculty
•Interviews scheduled through Fine Arts Audition Coordinator after completing Audition Request form
•Individual appointments available (not limited to designated dates like performance programs)
•Students should come dressed in comfortable clothing
Scholarship Info
•Sargent Conservatory of Theatre Arts awards over $225,000 annually in theatre-specific scholarships
•Most awards reserved for third- and fourth-year students, with some available to first-year students
•No separate application — awards determined in consultation with recruiting faculty and Office of Financial Aid
