Audition Requirements
Monologues
TWO CONTRASTING MONOLOGUES, no more than 3 min total
•Choose characters close to yourself in age from scripts written after 1930
•Selections should be of a contrasting nature
•Must be memorized and fully prepared
MATERIAL SELECTION
•Do NOT select Shakespeare or classical pieces
•Do not do extreme characterizations of body, voice, or speech
•Characters should be as natural, authentic, and close to you in real life as possible
•Do not alter your dialect or accent — use your own speech
PROPS & ATTIRE
•Feel free to use a chair if needed
•Keep props and costume pieces to one or two at most
•Dress in comfortable, professional clothing — no gym clothes, nothing too tight or revealing, no heels above 3 inches

•Brief group warm-up and movement exercises at beginning of audition
•Come dressed in comfortable clothing for movement

APPLICATION PROCESS

•Complete Audition Request form and submit $30 fee after applying

IMPORTANT NOTES
•Must be academically accepted before audition results are released
•Acceptd submissions are optional — not considered final auditions
•Virtual auditions available only in extenuating circumstances
•Off-campus Unified Auditions are "meet-and-greets" — schedule official audition through Admissions
What's The Process
AUDITION FORMAT
•Check-in at 8:30 a.m., auditions conclude by early afternoon
•Brief group warm-up session, then time to change before performing
•Perform audition pieces individually — may be asked to do exercises and improvisations
SCHEDULING
•Must submit university application before requesting audition
•Complete Audition Request form and submit $30 fee
•Audition coordinator will contact with scheduling information
Scholarship Info
•Sargent Conservatory of Theatre Arts awards over $225,000 annually in theatre-specific scholarships
•Most awards reserved for third- and fourth-year students, with some available to first-year students
•No separate application — awards determined in consultation with recruiting faculty and Office of Financial Aid
