Scholarship Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Optional audition for scholarship consideration only; it is not required for program admission.

Repertoire

Prepared repertoire on your principal instrument or voice, with requirements set by your area

Voice: two short contrasting classical selections plus sight-singing and aural retention

Piano: two contrasting memorized pieces, a sight-read piece, and scales/arpeggios

Band/orchestra instrument: two contrasting prepared solos or etudes plus the required scales

Accompaniment

Voice applicants bring their own accompanist or accompaniment track — no a cappella; instrumental accompaniment is welcome but not required

BA students may audition in their principal area for music scholarships and ensemble placement

Area options include voice, piano, strings/orchestra, and wind/percussion; out-of-state or international piano applicants may submit recorded materials
