•Emphasis in ballet or modern dance with required dance composition
•Broad curriculum includes contact improvisation, jazz, tap, musical theater dance, Dunham technique, Spanish dance, Argentine tango, bharata natyam, West African dance, Alexander Technique, and hip-hop
•Somatic training including Alexander Technique and Authentic Movement
•Most dance courses accept no more than 20 students

•Washington University Dance Theatre — annual mainstage concert at Edison Theatre with faculty and guest professional choreographers
•WashU Dance Collective — resident dance company performing on campus and throughout St. Louis
•Student Dance Showcase — entirely student-choreographed, danced, directed, and designed concert
•American College Dance Conference participation
Professional Development
•Graduates pursue careers in professional dance, dance education, art management, and physical therapy
•Students often double-major, combining dance with another field
