•The BA investigates dance as both an art form and a cultural practice, balancing creative work with academic study
•More than 15 technique genres include contemporary ballet, contemporary modern, street styles, West African forms, and social dance
•Electives extend into choreography, production, dance science, dance scholarship, dance education, and arts administration
Performance & Productions
•The Department of Dance produces four concerts each year and regularly brings local, national, and international guest artists for workshops and master classes
•The Meany Center series brings visiting companies to campus and offers additional master classes
Degree Flexibility
•More than 80% of UW Dance majors also complete a second major; departmental honors and a Dance minor provide additional pathways
