Program Recognition
•The Broad Endorsement/Primary K-12 option gives future music teachers preparation across the school-music curriculum and is designed for service in broad K-12 settings.
•WSU places teaching practice throughout the degree: music education courses include an average of three guided teaching demonstrations per semester with professor feedback, followed by a five-week practicum and a full 16-week student-teaching semester.
•CNAfME and ACDA student organizations add lectures, clinicians, and regional and national conference opportunities.
Professional Development
•WSU reports that graduates who seek music-education employment find positions throughout the West Coast and Northwest Region.
•Students intending to teach in public schools can pursue the R.H. and Jane Logan Scholarship, alongside School of Music and WSU General Scholarship opportunities.
Facilities
•Music educators train in the Kimbrough Music Building's concert halls and large-ensemble rehearsal rooms, with access to Bryan Hall's 800-seat auditorium, the Kemble Stout Music Listening Library, a professional recording studio, and an electronic music lab.
