— Voice faculty prioritizes musicianship, quality, and evenness of tone over difficult literature
— Memorization strongly recommended
— Accompanist provided by WSU — bring sheet music for them
— May also sing unaccompanied
— Complete the School of Music Audition and Application Form (separate from university application)
— University application via Common App or direct WSU application ($70 fee, waiver available)
— Scholarship auditions held prior to January 31
— Complete the WSU General Scholarship Application for 700+ additional scholarship programs
— Students who do not qualify for studio voice may join a voice class and re-audition after one semester
— WSU uses test-free admissions — no SAT/ACT considered
— Approximately 30 minutes total
— Live on-campus audition preferred
— Video submission allowed for distance applicants
— Individual audition appointments available by arrangement
— Two prepared songs (accompanist provided)
— Pitch memory test
— Sight-singing test
— Basic keyboard skills demonstration
— Short interview with voice faculty
— Upload recording to YouTube, Vimeo, or SoundCloud
— Share link via the School of Music Audition and Application Form
— Frame video to show instrument and technique clearly
