Requirements

•Two monologues, combined max 3 min

•Both must be from plays

•Upload as separate video clips

•Introduction video is not counted toward the 3-minute limit

Wild Card Video, ~60 Sec

•Can be ANYTHING: a special skill, an interesting story, a passion speech, an instrument you play, etc.

•Prompt: "What do you want us to know about you?" and "What makes you unique?"

•Two Contrasting monologues, 1 min each

•Both from modern/contemporary plays (memorized)

•Optional: 20-30 lines of Shakespeare verse monologue or soliloquy

-Can substitute for one contemporary monologue

•May also include improvisation and movement exercises

Application Logistics

•Submit the digital portfolio and audition registration through Acceptd

•$35 Acceptd portfolio fee required; fee waivers are handled through the Acceptd Help Desk

•Viterbo University does not charge an admission application fee

•Unscheduled walk-in auditions at National Unified Audition sites carry a $25 non-refundable fee

Enrollment

•Students must be admitted to Viterbo University before departmental audition admission

•Students begin as candidates and formally enter upper division after faculty evaluation in the second year

What's The Process

Audition Process

•Apply and receive university admission before the department audition

•Submit the Acceptd portfolio and indicate a preferred audition format

•Complete an informal faculty interview as part of the audition

Live Audition

•Prepare two contrasting memorized one-minute monologues from modern plays

•One contemporary monologue may be replaced by 20–30 lines of Shakespearean verse

•The audition may include improvisation and movement

Scholarship Info

Scholarship Consideration

•Academic merit scholarships up to $20,000 based on GPA

•Theatre talent scholarships typically range from $1,000-$2,000 per year; public program pages note awards up to $4,000

•Marie Leon La Croix Scholarship: $2,000-$4,000

•Talent scholarship consideration requires a completed audition and interview

•No additional paperwork or re-audition is required for talent scholarship consideration

•Both merit and talent scholarships are renewable three times (four years total), contingent on good academic standing and remaining in the department
