Monologues

TWO CONTRASTING PIECES (~5 MINUTES TOTAL)

•Perform two contrasting pieces that represent your artistry, preparation, and performance skills

•Pieces should be memorized to the best of your ability

•Pieces may be from a play, musical, or contest

Musical Theatre Option

•Singers or dancers may perform a musical theatre selection for one of the pieces

•Must provide your own accompaniment for singing

Additional Materials

Portfolio (optional)

•For students with technical theatre or entertainment design experience

•3-6 samples of your best work (recordings, photographs, sketches) with brief description and context for each

Audition Process

•Admission to the BA Theatre program is through the university application

•Optional scholarship audition for arts-specific scholarship consideration

Audition Expectations

•Auditions can be completed during Marlins Days, virtually, or in-person by appointment

•Register via the VWU Arts Audition portal; a faculty member will schedule your audition

•Includes a discussion of your performance and the program with faculty

•Students with experience in technical theatre or entertainment design (lighting, scenic, props, sound, projections, filmmaking) will be asked to show examples of their work
