Audition Requirements
Dance
TECHNIQUE CLASS AUDITION
•Ballet barre and center, modern combination, and jazz combination
•No individual choreography or solo required
BALLET BARRE
•Pliés, tendus, dégagés, rond de jambe, barre adagio, grand battements
BALLET CENTER
•Center adagio, pirouettes, petit allegro, grand allegro
MODERN
•Short movement sequence demonstrating use of levels and dynamics
JAZZ
•Short movement sequence demonstrating musicality, performance, and genre understanding
ATTIRE
•Women: Black leotard and pink or flesh-colored tights
•Men: White shirt and black tights
•Bring all dance shoes
Additional Materials
PHOTO (required)
•Submit a photo of yourself in dance attire similar to what you will wear at the audition
•Submitted with the audition application form

ENROLLMENT
•Must apply for admission to Valencia College through the application portal
•Valencia requires in-person or online orientation before start date — spots fill quickly
•Fall and spring enrollment available (auditions held each semester)
REQUIRED FIRST-SEMESTER COURSES
•DAA 1104 — Modern Dance I for Majors
•DAA 1204 — Ballet I for Majors
•DAA 2610 — Dance Composition and Improvisation for Majors
What's The Process
AUDITION FORMAT
•In-person technique class at Valencia College East Campus, Building 6, Room 104
•Ballet barre and center, modern combination, and jazz combination
•No individual choreography or solo required
VIDEO AUDITION OPTION
•Available if unable to attend in-person audition
•Application still due by the standard deadline
•Video due by May 1, 2026 — no late submissions accepted
•Maximum 10 minutes
•Introduce yourself with full name and the term for which you are applying
•Must demonstrate ballet barre/center, modern combination, and jazz combination
•No dance studio required — ensure clear visibility and safe space
•Email a private YouTube, Google Drive, or Dropbox link when complete
NOTIFICATION
•Acceptance status communicated within 2 weeks of audition
