Dance

Performance Audition

•Faculty considers your ability to engage with new ideas and information

•Demonstrate capacity to embody material physically and intellectually

•Demonstrate knowledge and ability in at least 2 of the 4 techniques offered at UWSP: ballet, modern, jazz, and tap

Prepared Solo

•Perform a solo demonstrating your ability to communicate through movement

Additional Materials

Resume

•Required resume including dance training, performance experience, and awards

Headshot

•Required recent headshot or dance photograph

Essay

•Required 3-page essay

•Essay prompt: describe what most interests you about studying dance at the university level

•Essay prompt: explain your reasons for pursuing a dance major at UW-Stevens Point in light of the Dance Program Mission Statement

•Essay prompt: describe how you see yourself as a leader in dance now and in the future

Letters of Recommendation

•Two letters of recommendation required

•One letter from an academic teacher or advisor

•One letter from a primary dance teacher able to assess your potential for university-level dance study

Transfer Pathway

UWSP publishes Fox Valley Technical College AA and AS articulation agreements covering all baccalaureate degrees, including BA Dance. The Theatre and Dance department determines how transferred coursework applies to this major.
