Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Songs

Requirements

•Two contrasting classical songs (10 minutes total)

•One song preferably in a language other than English

•Memorization preferred but not required

•May use a live accompanist, pre-recorded accompaniment, or perform a cappella

Additional Materials

Letters of Recommendation

•Music teacher recommendation: Required from a teacher familiar with your musical ability and leadership potential; voice students should include a letter from their current school choral director; additional references are accepted; letters may be submitted by email

How to Apply

•Complete the UW-Green Bay Music Admission and Scholarship Application via Qualtrics

•Choose a preferred in-person audition date, or submit a video audition

•Admission to the music major and minor is by audition

Placement

•Admitted students take music theory and aural-skills placement diagnostics — for course placement only, not admission

Licensure

•Leads to Wisconsin DPI licensure in Pre-K-12 Choral and General Music

•Music Education majors select Education as a minor, leading to licensure upon completion of student teaching

What's The Process

Audition Format

•Perform two contrasting classical songs (10 minutes total), one preferably in a language other than English

•Memorization is preferred for voice but not required

•In-person auditions on the Green Bay campus are preferred

•Video auditions accepted — upload to YouTube and submit a shareable link

•Video submissions must be received by April 1 for scholarship consideration
