•One song that shows vocal and acting ability

•Can be from a musical or a pop song

•No longer than 90 seconds

Monologues

Requirements

•Prescreen Video

•Two contrasting monologues, each no longer than 1 minute

•Contemporary monologues preferred — no Shakespeare

•Choose age-appropriate characters (within 5–10 years of your age)

•Perform in your own voice rather than a different accent

•Select active monologues where the character is trying to get something from another character

Application Logistics

•Submit prescreen video link and application via Google Form

•Requires a free Google account to access

Enrollment

•Must be admitted to UVU before acceptance into the BFA

•Students not admitted may enroll as BA Theatre Studies and re-audition via Sophomore Acceptance

Admission Pathway

•Video submissions open late November through January 31

•Callback auditions are by invitation only on campus

•A limited number of students also accepted through Utah Theatre Association Conference auditions

PATHWAY 2 — SOPHOMORE ACCEPTANCE (CURRENT UVU & TRANSFER STUDENTS)

•For students who have completed prerequisite courses (Acting I, Voice & Speech I, Group Voice, and others)

•Video submissions accepted January 1–31

•Callback auditions by invitation only on campus

What's The Process

Audition Expectations

•Runs approximately 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

•Dance/movement call first thing in the morning

•Individual audition slots throughout the day

•Students not selected are encouraged to attend UVU as BA students and audition again at the end of their first year

Scholarship Info

Departmental Tuition Waivers

•Available for theatre majors (minors not eligible)

•Must be full-time (12+ credits/semester) with minimum 2.5 GPA (most recipients have 3.5+)

•Waivers cannot exceed full tuition

•Annual BFA performance assessments required for continuation

•Awards are annual and do not carry over

•Apply through the central UVU scholarship system in the spring
