Program Requirements
•UTEP Department of Music is a National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) accredited institution
•Bachelor of Music in Music Education leads to all-levels (PK-12) Texas teacher certification
•Concentrations: instrumental, keyboard, vocal, and guitar (guitar and keyboard tracks pending NASM plan approval)
•Students must place into MUSA 1195 Individual Instruction by audition; those not placing may take pre-major lessons for up to 2 semesters
•Admitted students take a Theory Advancement Test for course placement only — not for admission
Admission
•Apply to UTEP through Common App or ApplyTexas
•Complete university admission and scholarship application prior to auditioning (recommended)
•Complete FAFSA for financial aid consideration
