Audition Requirements

Songs

Two 32-Bar Cuts from Musical Theatre Repertoire

One up-tempo song from the musical theatre repertoire

One ballad from the musical theatre repertoire

Accompaniment

In-person: pianist provided — bring sheet music

Video: may use a live accompanist or recorded track

No a cappella

Monologues

One Contemporary Monologue, 1:30 Max

Comic or dramatic — your choice

Preferably from a play

Dance

One Musical Theatre or Jazz Combination, 1-1:30 Min

Must include a minimum of one pirouette

Must include some form of developpé or battement

Must include some form of leap or grand jeté

Auditions must be submitted by March 1 for scholarship consideration

Eligibility

Fall enrollment only

Must audition and be accepted into the program

Program Requirements

Enrolled majors must pass a second-year continuation evaluation in singing, acting, and dance/stage movement

Transfer students admitted with junior status are exempt from the second-year evaluation

Senior showcase required in the final year (MUS 448 Musical Theatre Senior Showcase)

Transfer Pathway

Transfer applicants must complete the BFA Musical Theatre admission audition. Students admitted with junior status receive advanced standing in the program and are exempt from its second-year continuation evaluation.

Departmental Scholarship

Up to $14,000 over four years ($3,500 per year)

Qualifications

New entering student (fall term entry only)

Completed admissions application and acceptance for full-time study

Major in musical theatre, theatre, or dance

Experience in high school or community theatre productions

Demonstrated ability in stage movement, acting, and singing

Unweighted high school GPA of 3.0

Must maintain cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
