•University has rolling admissions with no set deadline
•Optional: apply for a Music Department talent scholarship and audition for award consideration (due May 1)
Secondary Education Licensure Gate
•The BME leads to Utah secondary teaching licensure and is directed at secondary music education
•To enter the professional Secondary Education courses, students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA, earn a C or better in education and major content courses, and pass the required PRAXIS II content subject test(s)
•This licensure gate is an internal academic checkpoint after enrollment, not a performance audition
Course Placement
•Incoming music majors take a theory and ear-training placement assessment at orientation — for course placement only, not admission
•A piano proficiency must be completed during the first two years of study
