•Bullet: The BME leads to Utah secondary teaching licensure and is directed at secondary music education
•Bullet: To enter the professional Secondary Education courses, students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA, earn a C or better in education and major content courses, and pass the required PRAXIS II content subject test(s)
•Bullet: This licensure gate is an internal academic checkpoint after enrollment, not a performance audition
Course Placement
•Bullet: Incoming music majors take a theory and ear-training placement assessment at orientation — for course placement only, not admission
•Bullet: A piano proficiency must be completed during the first two years of study
