Prescreen Requirements

Songs

MTCP Song Option A

Two Contrasting songs, 60-90 sec each

One song written before 1970 (musical theatre, Golden Age, pop, hip-hop, folk, rock, etc.)

One song written after 1970 — should contrast the style of the first selection

One should be a ballad, one should be uptempo

Accompaniment

Must sing to musical accompaniment (live or pre-recorded) — no a cappella

Tracks available on YouTube or apps like Harmony Helper

Framing

Film in 3/4 shot (top of head to knees)

Slate

Slate at the beginning of each piece (included in time limit)

State your name, song title, and show

Monologues

MTCP Monologue Option A

One monologue, 60-90 sec

From a published play or written by a professional writer

Cannot be from musicals, TV shows, or movies

Framing

Film in close-up (top of head to chest)

Slate

Slate at the beginning of the piece (included in time limit)

State your name, title of the play, and playwright

Dance

MTCP Dance Option B

Dance SUBMISSION, 30-60 sec

Dance in whatever discipline you feel most confident (jazz, ballet, tap, modern, hip-hop, lyrical, contemporary, cultural dance styles, etc.)

No barre work — check if program offers optional Ballet Submission

Must be self-choreographed or from a performance where you are clearly featured solo

Must be performed to music — no a cappella dance

Framing

Film in full-body shot (entire body in frame at all times)

No slate needed for dance media

Wild Card Optional

Up to 60 seconds

No slate needed

Can be a special skill, interesting story, passion speech, instrument, or other material that shows what makes you unique

Prompt: "What do you want us to know about you?" and "What makes you unique?"
