Program Highlights
TRAINING
•Prepares students for careers as professional theatre educators in schools and arts organizations

•Students work on all Utah State theatre productions in some capacity

ELIGIBILITY
•Minimum 3.0 GPA required for BFA Theatre Education (higher than other department programs)
•Fall, Spring, and Summer start options available
•No performance audition required — admission by interview
LICENSURE
•Graduates eligible for Utah State Board of Education licensure in secondary education with theatre endorsement (grades K-12)
•Students apply to Secondary Teacher Education Program (STEP) during their studies
•STEP administered by USU School of Teacher Education and Leadership (TEAL)
FINANCIAL AID
•Departmental financial aid awards considered automatically with application
•All out-of-state students should apply for residency for future tuition reduction
•Additional scholarships via Award Spring (usu.awardspring.com)

What's The Process
APPLICATION PROCESS
•Two-step process: apply to USU, then submit supplemental materials to the Department of Theatre Arts
•Complete the online Application Intention form on the department website
INTERVIEW SCHEDULING
•Once USU referral and supporting materials are received, department may reach out to schedule an interview
•Due to high volume of applications, not every applicant will be interviewed
•If selected, scheduling may take several weeks after materials are submitted
VIRTUAL OPTION
•Virtual Zoom interviews are welcome
•For in-person interviews, contact theatre@usu.edu to arrange a visit

•Gwendella Thornley Memorial Scholarship — junior Theatre Education/Theatre Arts students
•Anne Kennedy Roskelley Memorial Scholarship — demonstrated financial need, preference for non-traditional students
•Josey Barnes Wayman Scholarship — junior or senior, academic achievement and financial need
