Repertoire
•Repertoire requirements follow the Osher School suggested audition repertoire for "Music Education, Composition, Bachelor of Arts & Minors" on your instrument — typically two contrasting etudes or solos demonstrating lyrical expression and technical proficiency, with scales as listed for your instrument
•Voice applicants prepare 3 pieces of varying styles (at least one non-English and at least one classical selection); up to one musical theatre selection allowed; memorization strongly encouraged
•Keyboard applicants play works across the listed categories, sight-read at the level of an easy Haydn sonata, and submit a repertoire list
Accompaniment
•Accompaniment is optional for instrumental auditions
•Instrumentalists may bring their own accompanist or use a recording — no accompanist is provided
Accompaniment
•Vocalists must perform to accompaniment (live or pre-recorded) — no a cappella
•A staff accompanist is provided on the audition day
•To use the staff accompanist, submit your audition excerpt to usm.music.auditions@maine.edu at least two weeks before your audition; you may also bring your own accompanist
