Training
•Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies (instrumental, arranging, or vocal emphasis)
•Audition on your principal jazz instrument or voice; jazz applicants do not perform a classical audition (except undergraduate jazz piano, which adds a diagnostic classical audition)
•Lab bands, combos, and a Living-Learning Community for jazz students on campus
•The jazz-studies ecosystem includes seven lab bands headed by the One O’Clock, plus repertory, guitar, keyboard, Latin, chamber, and vocal laboratories.
•Performance and composition-arranging routes share improvisation, history, theory, keyboard skills, and sustained laboratory participation.
