Capstone Project Pitch (250 words or less) describing an idea for your senior Capstone Project

Comprehensive resume including relevant artist/personal websites and profiles

Portfolio

Music Business Portfolio (single PDF) showcasing your work (concert flyers, tour schedules, websites, merchandise designs, etc.)

Music Business Video (60 seconds) on how you plan to use your music business education to drive positive change in the industry

Good to Know

Application Logistics

Step 1: Apply to UNT via Common App, ApplyTexas, or the UNT website

Step 2: Complete the separate College of Music application via Acceptd (opens September 1 annually)

Step 3: Select Commercial Music as your area and your intended track

Deadlines

December 1 preferred for January and February interview dates

February 1 final deadline to submit video auditions and/or portfolios

Commercial Music does not accept spring-semester applications

Placement

Admitted students take music theory and aural-skills placement exams at orientation — for course placement only, not admission

Transfer Pathway

UNT publishes a BA Commercial Music Transfer Guide/TCCNS course map, giving transfer students a course-planning path before applying. Commercial Music applicants still complete the Acceptd materials review and track-specific interview process.

Admission Process

Submit the four shared materials plus your track-specific materials through Acceptd as the screening round

The faculty review completed applications and invite qualified applicants to a track-specific interview

Live audition/interview requirements differ by track and are communicated about two weeks before the scheduled date

Interview Expectations

Interviews occur on scheduled January and February dates (on campus or virtual)

Commercial Music does not accept spring-semester applications
