Requirements
•Bullet: Five Prepared Selections
•Bullet: Prepare 4 pieces from memory, one in each major singing language: English, French, German, and Italian
•Bullet: Must include both art songs and arias within the 4 pieces
•Bullet: Show a minimum of 3 major musical styles across all selections
•Bullet: May present possible cuts or sing only one verse/part of a da capo aria depending on length
Oratorio Selection
•Bullet: 5th prepared selection: an oratorio piece
•Bullet: May be sung using music (memorization not required for this piece)
Recitative (Given One Week in Advance)
•Bullet: Brief Italian recitative excerpt sent exactly one week prior to audition
•Bullet: Memorization optional but encouraged
•Bullet: Not required for admission but strong performance helps with scholarship/assistantship consideration
Cold-Reading (Given in Audition)
•Bullet: Four lines each of Italian, French, and German
•Bullet: Helps faculty assess placement and make diction/language class recommendations
•Bullet: Not required for admission but helps with scholarship consideration
