Repertoire List
•Principal-instrument repertoire: prepare the appropriate UNM audition requirements for strings, winds, percussion, piano, or guitar
•Strings repertoire: 2 scales (one major, one minor) plus a solo etude and one concerto or sonata movement
•Wind and brass repertoire: typically two contrasting solo works or etudes and major scales
•Percussion repertoire: audition in at least two performance areas (snare, mallets, timpani, drum set)
•Piano repertoire: two pieces from different periods totaling about 10-15 minutes
•Guitar repertoire: a prepared solo from the suggested study repertoire, plus Modes for Guitar from memory
Essay / Statement
•Music education essay: 500-800 words on experience in music, teaching, and leadership; reasons for wanting to teach; and personal/professional goals
•Cover letter: include interest in Music Education, date of completed or intended audition, and GPA
Letters of Recommendation
•Two recommendation letters, including one from a high school music teacher
