Repertoire List
•Principal jazz-instrument repertoire: prepare the appropriate UNM audition requirements for your instrument area
•Drum set repertoire and technique: demonstrate swing, jazz brush playing, Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, rock, and funk styles; read intermediate drum-set charts; play over a 12-bar blues or 32-bar AABA form; and trade 4- or 8-measure solos
•Percussion jazz repertoire: audition on drum set plus one other area (snare, mallets, or timpani)
•Wind and brass repertoire: prepare contrasting solo works or etudes and major scales; trombone applicants may include a jazz standard with improvisation
•Improvisation: be prepared to demonstrate jazz improvisation; ensembles are by audition only
