Monologues

ONE TO TWO CONTRASTING MONOLOGUES, 2-3 min total including introduction

•Must be memorized

•Should best demonstrate acting ability

•A single chair will be provided

•All other props or scene partners should be mimed

Optional Singing

•Singing is NOT required

•If included, limit to 16 bars of music

•Bring recorded music with your own playback device

Audition Process

•Admission to the BSE Theatre Education program is through the UW-Whitewater general application

•No audition or portfolio required for program entry

•Optional audition for scholarship consideration on Incoming Freshman Scholarship Day

Scholarship Info

Theatre/Dance Scholarships

•Approximately $40,000 in scholarships awarded annually to Theatre majors and Dance minors

•Incoming Freshman Scholarship Day held each February

Scholarship Audition Format

•Prepare 1-2 contrasting monologues (2-3 minutes including introduction)

•Singing optional (limited to 16 bars with recorded accompaniment)

•Submit application, high school transcript, reference letter, and theatre resume by February 13, 2026
