•Choose repertoire from the following categories (no more than one per category):
•Italian song or aria from the 17th or 18th centuries
•English or American art song from any period (Handel, Duke, Head, Haydn, Barber, Copland, Purcell, Rorem, Britten, Vaughan Williams, Carpenter, Quilter)
•Song of America composers (Roland Marvin Carter, Jacqueline Hairston, Talib Rasul Hakim, Carman Moore, Dorothy Rudd Moore, James Furman, Adolphus Hailstork, Wendell Logan, Olly Wilson, Hall Johnson, Florence Price)
Transfer Applicants
•Three selections from memory (one must be Italian); a fourth category of German Lied or French Chanson is available
Accompaniment
•Piano accompaniment required (live or pre-recorded); a pianist is provided on campus and you may also bring your own
•Bring music organized in a three-ring binder
Memorization
•All selections must be performed from memory
Tonal Memory Evaluation
•A series of five pitches is played on piano twice; sing the pitches back
