•The BM in Music Education combines music study with a Minor in All-Level Education and a path to K-12 teacher certification.
Training
•The Instrumental Track is for students whose primary focus is a traditional band or orchestral instrument; UIW identifies it as the route for future band or orchestra directors.
•The curriculum includes principal-instrument lessons, major ensembles, conducting, instrumental techniques and pedagogy, creative development for elementary and secondary classrooms, and professional education coursework.
•Students can gain pre-clinical teaching experience as interns or section leaders with marching and concert ensembles.
Facilities
•The degree’s TCP pathway includes Foundations of Education, Critical Concepts in Secondary Education, a teaching test, GPA requirements, and later clinical teaching.
•Luella Bennack Music Center includes Diane Bennack Concert Hall, Ingrid Seddon Recital Hall, a recording studio, piano lab, iMac computer lab, teaching studios, percussion studio, and practice rooms.
