•The BA in Music is a 120-hour liberal-arts degree with at least 36 upper-division hours.
Training
•Students develop musicianship through performance, theory, history, culture, listening, improvisation, and applied study on voice or an instrument.
•The degree is designed for students who want to combine music with another major; UIW notes graduates have continued into graduate study in music, medical school, and law school.
•Small classes support close faculty attention, and the department includes veteran performers, award-winning composers, producers, scholars, and specialists across music.
Performance & Productions
•UIW ensembles include Cardinal Chorale, Cardinals Singers, Community Orchestra, Marching Cardinals, Wind Ensemble, Cardinal Red Basketball Band, Cardinal Jazz Band, Jazz Combo, String Quartet, Brass Quintet, Woodwind Quintet, Percussion Ensemble, and Guitar Ensemble.
•Ensembles have performed at Carnegie Hall, the Montreux Jazz Festival, and the Tobin Center.
Facilities
•Students use Luella Bennack Music Center, with concert and recital halls, choir and band rehearsal halls, a recording studio, piano lab, iMac computer lab, teaching studios, a 45-seat lecture hall, percussion studio, listening library, and modular practice rooms.
