Repertoire
•Bullet: Voice: Prepare from memory two (2) contrasting art songs and/or arias from the standard secular or sacred repertoire of the 17th-21st centuries; one selection must be in English and one in Italian, French, or German
•Bullet: Violin, viola, cello and bass: Play from memory one major scale and one minor scale with arpeggio in two or three octaves, bowed separately and, if possible, slurred two and three notes to a bow, at a steady, moderate tempo; sight-reading; prepare two of the options listed for your instrument on the audition page, such as an etude, a movement from a concerto, or a movement from a sonata or short piece
•Bullet: Woodwinds and brass (bassoon, clarinet, euphonium, flute, French horn, oboe, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, tuba): Four major scales, chosen from all 12 major scales, and a chromatic scale throughout the entire range of the instrument (scales are chosen by the committee); sight-reading; two selections of contrasting style (lyrical and technical) totaling roughly 8-10 minutes, from the standard classical repertoire
•Bullet: Guitar: Prepare 2 pieces in contrasting styles from the standard classical literature, one of them an etude that demonstrates basic classical or fingerstyle technique and the second of your choosing; demonstrate the C and G major scales (Segovia edition preferred) and the A minor scale; sight-read a single-line piece presented at the audition
•Bullet: Piano, Performance concentration: All major and harmonic and melodic minor scales and arpeggios, 4 octaves, hands together; a Baroque composition; a fast movement from a Classical sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, or Schubert; a Romantic or contemporary work; sight-reading; all solo works performed from memory
•Bullet: Piano, Musical Arts or Music Education: All major and harmonic minor scales and arpeggios, at least two octaves, hands together; two contrasting pieces from different periods (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, contemporary); sight-reading; all solo works performed from memory
•Bullet: Percussion: Perform on snare drum, mallets and timpani; instruments are provided, but you provide all sticks and mallets and bring a copy of the music to be performed. Snare drum: any rudiment from the Standard 40 Percussive Arts Society Rudiments, 2 snare etudes (one in the rudimental style and one in the concert/orchestral style), and sight-reading. Keyboard: 4 major scales of your choice, 2 octaves with arpeggio, in 1/8th notes at 144 BPM, a 4-mallet etude or solo, and sight-reading, on marimba unless arranged in advance. Timpani: tune one drum from a pitch source and then a second drum by interval, a timpani solo that demonstrates rolls, muting, dynamic control and various articulations, and sight-reading
•Bullet: Percussion, drum set (optional): Basic time patterns in swing, rock and Latin styles; trading 4s, 8s and 16s in any of those styles; sight-read and interpret charts
