Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Songs

Primary Area Audition — Voice

Choral/general emphasis students audition on a primary performance area (voice, piano, or guitar)

Voice applicants prepare two memorized songs in contrasting styles with piano accompaniment

Repertoire

First song: "Caro mio ben" or a selection from the 28 Italian Songs and Arias, or a classically sung art song or folk song

Second song: a selection of your choice with piano accompaniment

Accompaniment

Accompanist provided at no charge

What to Avoid

No choral selections (individual lines from choir pieces) accepted as solo repertoire

Additional Materials

Repertoire - Piano Primary Area

Two contrasting memorized works (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or Twentieth-century)

Sight-reading repertoire

Repertoire - Guitar Primary Area

Three pieces: one technical study plus two pieces from contrasting periods

All pieces except the technical study performed from memory
