Audition Requirements

Dance

Dance Audition Requirements

Live audition includes a traditional ballet technique class and a modern technique class

No prepared solo is required

Each class lasts approximately 90 minutes, with a faculty meeting after the audition

Bring ballet slippers; women should also bring pointe shoes

Bare feet are required for the contemporary modern portion

Additional Materials

Resume

Required: artistic resume or CV listing all relevant dance experience

Photo

Required: dance photo; en pointe preferred

Letters of Recommendation

Required: contact information for three references who have written letters of recommendation

Transcript

Required: official transcripts from high school and any college attended

Scores / GPA

Optional when applicable: ACT/SAT scores

Application Logistics

Complete the online UMKC application and Conservatory Supplemental Application

All application materials must be received by December 15, 2026

No application fee for domestic undergraduate students ($75 for international students)

What's The Process

Audition Process

Live audition on campus is strongly recommended for full scholarship consideration

Choose February 6, February 15, or March 5, 2027 in the application

A meeting with the Dance Division chair and faculty follows the audition

Audition Expectations

Request approval from Conservatory Admissions at cadmissions@umkc.edu

Approved audition videos are due February 26, 2027

Full scholarship consideration may not be available for video auditions

Transfer Students

Transfer students with fewer than 24 credit hours follow freshman application requirements

Transfer students with 24 or more credit hours submit official transcripts from each institution attended
