•The catalog track is part of a 120-credit Bachelor of Music curriculum designed for performers, teachers, music-related careers, and graduate study

•Students build performance experience through School of Music ensembles, chamber work, recitals, and applied study

•Pianists complete Keyboard Skills and a dedicated Collaborative Piano Seminar.

•Piano Literature I and II plus Piano Pedagogy I and II create a keyboard-specific academic sequence.

Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Repertoire List

•For BM Piano Performance freshman auditions, play at least three pieces chosen from four catalog categories

•Categories include a significant Baroque work, a first or last movement from a Classical sonata, a Romantic work, and a significant 20th- or 21st-century work

•All pieces should be memorized

•Transfer applicants seeking junior-level study must perform selections from all four categories, including a complete Classical sonata

•Schedule a separate School of Music audition through the Mizzou Music Audition Request form

Eligibility

•All prospective freshman and transfer music and music education majors must audition for admission to the School of Music

•Students must also meet University of Missouri admission requirements

What's The Process

Audition Process

•Auditions are primarily heard live on campus at Mizzou Music Days

•If unable to attend a Mizzou Music Day, individual auditions may be arranged with instructors when available

•The audition is used for School of Music admission and scholarship consideration

•Scholarship award letters are typically sent by March 15

•School of Music admission letters are sent by March 15 or within one month of the audition date

Audition Expectations

•These auditions are for degree admission and scholarship consideration, not ensemble placement

•Placement auditions are held at the beginning of the fall semester

•Music scholarships are awarded based on the performance audition at Mizzou Music Day

•Scholarship recommendations are made shortly after all audition days are complete

•Scholarship award letters are typically sent by March 15

Maintaining Scholarships

•Maintain a 2.75 GPA

•Earn no grade below C- in music classes

•Remain in good standing with the University

•Scholarships are automatically renewable for up to four years
