Program Recognition
•Bullet: The minor is overseen by Department Chair Shelby Newport, Professor of Theatre and Dance and the program's coordinator, based in the Theatre wing of French Hall.
Training
•Bullet: The Theatre Minor is UM-Flint's broadest theatre credential for non-majors, drawing coursework from across the BFA and BA tracks — acting, design, and technology — rather than one specialization.
Performance & Productions
•Bullet: Minor students can work backstage or onstage across the department's season, including the 2025-26 Flint Repertory Theatre co-production of "Lucky Stiff" and the fall 2026 production of "Dead Man's Cellphone."
Value
•Bullet: Theatre Minor students are eligible for department funds such as the Brian K. McDonald Scholarship Fund and the UM-Flint Theatre and Dance Friends Scholarship, awarded through the May scholarship audition/interview process.
