Program Recognition
•Composition study sits within UM-Flint's NASM-accredited Music program, giving minor students access to the same theory faculty and recital infrastructure as Music majors.
Training
•The Music Composition Minor is coordinated through Professor Brian Di Blassio, the Music program's director and a music-theory specialist who also directs UM-Flint's Jazz Ensembles.
Performance & Productions
•Original student work can be featured in the Music program's recital series, including the April Concert Series that closed the 2026 winter semester with a run of student recitals covered by UM-Flint News.
Degree Flexibility
•It is one of three Music minors offered alongside the Music Minor and Musical Theatre Minor, letting composition-focused students outside the Music major build a portfolio of original work.
