•Bullet: Prepare repertoire for the applicant's principal performance area:
◦Sub-bullet: Vocalists: two songs from standard art-song literature; one selection may be an aria
◦Sub-bullet: Percussionists: a solo, study, or etude on snare, one keyboard percussion instrument, or timpani
◦Sub-bullet: Other instrumentalists: a solo on the major instrument (for example, a movement from a concerto, sonata, or a Solo and Ensemble Festival solo) that includes contrasting musical material
Scales & Technique
•Bullet: Percussionists prepare all major scales from memory on keyboard percussion and basic snare-drum rudiments
•Bullet: Other instrumentalists prepare and perform all major scales from memory
•Bullet: Read music on sight, demonstrating the ability to perform music unseen; vocalists sing on sight several short excerpts
Accompaniment
•Bullet: Vocalists must arrange the department-provided accompanist in advance or bring their own at their own expense
•Bullet: Recorded or digital accompaniment is not accepted for vocal auditions
