Program Recognition
•The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Media & Design is a design-focused track within UM-Flint's Fine Arts, Design & Art Education program, distinct from the department's generalist BFA in Fine Arts; after foundational coursework, students choose one of three design concentrations.
Training
•Coursework spans graphic, interactive, and screen-based design; Assistant Professor Robert Carter's Graphic Design II: Publication & Exhibition Design course produced "Caution: Flow and Fracture," a January 2026 student exhibition examining Flint's water and roadway systems.
Professional Development
•The department partners with the Flint Institute of Arts, Flint Public Art Project, Greater Flint Arts Council, Buckham Gallery, and the Mott-Warsh Collection, giving design students access to Flint's working gallery and public-art scene.
Facilities
•Student and faculty work is shown at UM-Flint's own Riverbank Arts and UCEN galleries, and in the Greater Flint Arts Council Gallery's juried Student Art Exhibition held each spring in downtown Flint.
