The BA combines the University of Dallas Core Curriculum with 29 hours of advanced drama coursework, Theatre Arts Workshop, Studio Rehearsal/Production, and an upper-level elective drawn from Drama or related fields.

Monologues

Two Monologues (Scholarship Audition)

One pre-1900 monologue in verse (Shakespeare strongly preferred)

One contemporary monologue written post-1900, not in verse

Strong preference for a post-1980 American play

2 minutes maximum each

Portfolio

Design applicants: include 10–15 pieces that demonstrate your work, such as final renderings, models, photos of finished production work, paintings, drawings, or other artistic expressions.

Application Logistics

Apply for undergraduate admission through the UDallas Application, Common Application, or ApplyTexas.

After applying, use the Applicant Status Portal credentials sent in the University of Dallas confirmation email to complete the Drama Departmental Scholarship Application.

High school seniors and transfer students are eligible to compete; recipients are not required to major in Drama.

You may apply for up to two departmental scholarships, but may receive only one. A departmental scholarship cannot be added to a full-tuition scholarship.

What's The Process

Audition Process

No audition or portfolio review is required for admission to the BA Drama program; apply through the University of Dallas undergraduate application.

Students who apply to UDallas with an interest in Drama may compete for the Drama Departmental Scholarship through either an on-campus performance audition or a design portfolio review.

Schedule the on-campus audition or portfolio review by registering for a personalized visit.

The scholarship application is available August 1; submit it by December 1 and complete the audition or portfolio review by December 15.

Applied to tuition and renewable annually for four consecutive school years.

Renewal Criteria

Fulfill the university's general scholarship renewal criteria.

Participate significantly in a Mainstage production each semester and remain in good standing with the Drama Department.
